On Monday, 3 December 2018, the registration for NGOs and IGOs will be closed in the morning only. The registration counter will open for NGOs and IGOs at 14:00on that day. Only participants that are already in possession of their badge will be able to enter the venue.

This page is the main repository of information for RINGOS for COP24.  More details will be added here as they become available.  Last minute updates (ie meeting location change or new meeting added and occurring in the next few hours) will be posted on the COP 24 Opportunities and Updates page as well as posted as a new blog entry.  To subscribe to the blog entries so that you will receive an email with the new post, please see the information on the right hand panel.   Note – edits to this post will not generate an email – so please plan on checking this regularly.  

Registration (Getting your badge)

  • Friday, 30 November 2018 until Sunday 2 December 2018 from 08.00 to 19.00 hrs.
    • On Sunday, 2 December 2018 all observer organizations with badges will be able to enter the venue subsequently. Please note however that the side events and exhibits area will not be operational during this day and access restrictions to the events in the plenary will be applied based on space constraints.
  • Monday, 3 December 2018 –   On Monday, 3 December 2018, the registration for NGOs and IGOs will be closed in the morning only. The registration counter will open for NGOs and IGOs at 14:00on that day. Only participants that are already in possession of their badge will be able to enter the venue.
  • Tuesday, 4 December 2018 until Saturday, 8 December 2018, from 08.00 to 19.00 hrs.
  • Sunday, 9 December 2018 – The conference venue, including registration, will be closed.
  • Monday, 10 December, until Friday, 14 December 2018, from 08.00 to 19.00 hrs.

Early registration – before Sunday, 2 December 2018 – is highly recommended to avoid delays on the first day of the conference.

During COP24 in Katowice, Poland from December 1 – 14, 2018, RINGOs are invited to:

1. RINGO Constituency meetings:
Ringo will meet each morning beginning Monday, December 3  from 0900 – 1000  in Warmia SE  Room 4.  These daily meetings are intended to provide a platform of discussion about the ongoing negotiations, as well as facilitate networking and provide the opportunity to share research results

Constituency meetings are not posted on the daily schedule after the first day, but the date and time remain the same unless otherwise indicated.

2. Briefings with observer organizations:
Briefings with observer organizations will be posted on the COP 24 Opportunities and Updates page.

3.  Tickets for informal sessions
Information on limited access meetings/events for which tickets are distributed, will be posted on the COP 24 Opportunities and Updates page.

4. Meeting notes from constituency members:
It is impossible to be everywhere at COP or to even be there at all!  To support one another, RINGO members are often willing to share notes from meetings they attend.  Please email notes that you are able to contribute to wustl@ringofocalpoint.org and vls@ringofocalpoint.org. Meeting notes will be posted on the notes page as they become available.

5. Side events and exhibits:
Note: Because of the large number of side events and exhibits organized by our members, we are unable to promote individual side events on this page.  Please see the UNFCCC side events webpage for a schedule of side events and the UNFCCC exhibits page for a list of exhibits.

The RINGO Steering Committee is delighted to announced that at COP24 this year, RINGO has organized a thematic day called Research into PracticeIt will take place on Tuesday, December 4.

***** Contributions of the research community to climate action and implementation of the Paris Agreement – Researchers from academia, non-profits and think-tanks are engaged in research, capacity building, and education. This session will highlight evidence-based case studies of such practices that advance climate action and promote the effective and lasting implementation of the Paris Agreement.

***** Young RINGO Booth #147 hosted by Colorado State University- Training the next generation of youth as professionals in green house gas management, community adaptation and development. Case examples from a consortium of universities.We see the booth as a opportunity for Young RINGOS to meet and gather during the COP as well as a place to showcase different campus actions, research and student activities.
